At our April lunch we heard from speaker, Alex Darbyshire in The Narthex, against the backdrop of the Cathedral of St John the Baptist on Unthank Road.
Alex started as Executive Director of Norfolk & Norwich Festival in December 2013. We heard of her diverse and exciting career which included Administrative Director of English Touring Opera, Executive Director of Tamasha (a touring theatre company) and Vice President and Executive Producer within the international division of Polygram/Universal.
But that’s not all! She originally trained as an entertainment lawyer and speaks three languages – Spanish, Italian and French (four including English!). Alex is currently a Trustee of Tender, an organisation that uses theatre and the arts to engage young people in violence prevention and was previously a Trustee of the Nuffield Theatre in Southampton.
Alex shared some of the highlights of the Norfolk & Norwich Festival which delivers a high quality, internationally recognised programme of artistic activity across music, theatre, visual arts, literature, circus, dance and outdoor arts, working in collaboration with local, regional, national and international partners.
One lucky NBWN member won tickets to one of the shows in the charity raffle. You can find tickets at the Norfolk & Norwich Festival website at www.nnfestival.org.uk
We also had the members showcase, The Swan at Lavenham, a beautiful hotel and spa in a quaint village which we now all have on our list of place to try out!
