In August, Patrick Peal, Chief Executive of the East Anglian Air Ambulance, gave us a real insight into this extraordinary organisation.

Patrick has a long history with the EAAA, having been one of the team that set it up back in 2000, then becoming a Trustee and last year being appointed as Chief Executive.

The EAAA covers Norfolk, Suffolk, Cambridgeshire and Bedfordshire with helicopters and rapid response vehicles based at Norwich and Cambridge airports.

The organisation has been in the news a lot recently with the appointment of the Duke of Cambridge as one of the team of pilots. However, Patrick explained that “William”, as he is known to the team, is there as a pilot not to help with fundraising, so their need for the £10.5m a year needed to keep flying is just as urgent. One of their upcoming events is an attempt to break the Guinness World Record for the highest number of pooh sticks players!
