In February we welcomed Carole Slaughter as our guest speaker. A friendly and familiar face to us all, Carole has been part of NBWN for many years and was Chair for over 5 years, stepping down in 2019 but remaining on the committee.

Her background is in Marketing, having spent over 25 years as a Marketing Manager with 15 of those years at Jarrold Retail in Norwich.

In 2019 Carole made what many thought was as a surprising decision to leave Jarrold, and take up the position of Head of Fundraising at the Big C cancer charity in Norwich.

At the time Carole said:

“Big C was one of the first charities I worked with during my time at Jarrold, when the Big C Support and Information Centre was being built at the Norfolk and Norwich University Hospital. It has now come full circle and I go into my new role with enthusiasm for the challenges ahead. I have joined the charity at such an exciting time, with the recent launch of the Nearer to Home Appeal for a new central Norwich support centre which will make such a difference to those affected by cancer in our community.”

Carole gave a fascinating talk to us about her career, her time with NBWN and the reason why she has taken on a new challenge at Big C.
