In June, we heard from the inspirational Davina Tanner who opened Café Britannia, next to HMP Norwich in January 2014.  Established as a social enterprise, it has employed some 70 staff who are either serving or ex offenders since opening its doors.

Davina talked us through the history of the project which was launched to offer mentoring, training, employment and rehabilitation to prisoners to help empower them into starting new careers, once they leave the prison service.

The success of the project, not without its challenges, has been deemed a great success and the re-offending rates of those working at the Cafe have been significantly reduced to around 5% from an average of around 50%.

Passionate about business and its place in the wider community, Davina was made an OBE in the New Year Honours List in 2015 for her work in this area.
