October’s lunch saw Peter Wilson, MBE speak on ‘home turf’ and reflect on his 25 years at the Theatre Royal and his plans for 2017 and beyond after he steps down as CEO.  Members and guests heard about some of the transformations that have taken place over the year and of course the amusing anecdotes that come from operating such a local treasure.  Over the years, the Theatre has attracted some big touring musicals and developed strong relationships with the likes of the National Theatre, the Royal Shakespeare Company and Glyndebourne bringing a variety of different stage performances to Norwich audiences.  For Peter and the team, it’s all about the customer experience – from arriving at the venue, having a drink at the bar, and having enough toilets to cater for guests!  This is what makes audiences come back again and again.

Peter retires this year and will focus more of his time on his company PW Productions which is responsible for shows including An Inspector Calls and The Woman in Black – let’s hope he brings them to Norwich!
