In March we heard from speaker, Anna Douglas, Marketing and Development Manager at Norfolk Community Foundation, the NBWN Charity of the Year!

A slightly different concept to the usual ‘Charity of the Year’, the ‘NBWN Community Fund’, as well as supporting the work of the Foundation, will also invite applications for funding from Norwich based community groups to support a number of projects with up to £1,000 towards the end of the year – once we have an idea of the amount raised.

NBWN members will choose which projects it wishes to support – for example, we might see applications for funding to allow young carers to enjoy a rest from their caring responsibilities, funding for art materials for creative mental health projects, or for befriending services or activities for the socially isolated.  It was suggested by members that we might consider choosing a theme that responds to social need – and the Foundation can advise on any patterns of need that might be emerging. So watch this space!

It was a bit of a ‘charity extravaganza’ at the March lunch and Carol Plunkett from EACH gave an overview of the Nook appeal – an important new development which will provide a modern and up to date children’s hospital in Norfolk.  The target is to raise £10million!
