Attendees heard from Suzie Abel, senior buyer at Jarrolds department store. Suzie gave a fascinating insight into the history of the store as well as recent changes which have secured its status as one of the leading independent stores in the UK. Her role covers beauty, retail stationery, hosiery and Christmas products and she is also the Store’s charity co-ordinator. It was great to get an insight into the fascinating world of retail and how Suzie and the team search for inspiration to ensure the offering remains unique. To hear from someone so passionate about their career and their organisation was a great inspiration to all and some members of the network went away wanting to retrain as a retail buyer! One suggestions from a member for a new champagne bar in the store was put forward so we shall watch this space for any development!
The lunch took place in the Pembroke Suite at the beautifully renovated Georgian Townhouse where we enjoyed a delicious butternut squash and feta salad and beef stroganoff.
Special raffle prizes included a Pamper day from Jarrolds and a meal for two at The Georgian Townhouse.
